Contact marketing
I am running an outdoor Advertising business in U.P. Looking for NRI for expansion?
Question
Marketing a technical consultancy?
Hi Guys, I'm a server technician and want to do some work after hours. How would I go about getting clients? I know "word-of-mouth" is an option, but I work pretty isolated and don't have much contact with people in my line of business. Placing an ad in the newspaper is costly (for a decent size, full color ad) and there are so many other ads that offer similar services. I thought of printing pamphlets and handing them out at the street corner, but I'm not sure how effective that would be. Basically I need marketing ideas (and market-research suggestions). Eventually I want to work for myself, but until then I'll keep my current job to pay the bills. Thank you.

Well you should go get cards made. On the card have your name work number work address and some information about what you do. Whenever you go somewhere if you make brief conversation with someone hand them your card. Then from their these people will further spread your business information through word of mouth. Also start a mailing list of your clients, send them a brochesure monthly, and this will get them thinking about you, and possibly spread your name to their friends. Also maybe put flyers up around your town. Goodluck.
