Consignment sales
Question
Selling clothes at a consignment store?
I gave three dresses to a consignment store owner to sell for me. They're brand new with tags and range between $600-$1300. I'm supposed to get 40% of the profits from the sale. How can I find out how much the store is selling the dresses for and if I'm getting my fair share of the profits? For example, is there a law (California) that says I can I request copies of the seller's receipts?

There is no such law. If you don't trust the store owner to be truthful with you from the beginning, don't leave your property with them. List your stuff for sale on Craig's List instead.
