Can I cosign my wifes student loan?

I have a decent sized bank account (70,000 +) but a 560 rating on my credit score, and I'm currently unemployed. (worked construction over the summer) My wife is in school, and wants to take out a small private loan from wells fargo ($1,000) , she needs a cosigner to do this. My current bank doesn't offer college loans, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to cosign for her with such a low credit score.
