Question

first time home buyer in missouri?

Having a hard time saving up for a down payment. Are there any grants out there in Missouri or federal to help me? Just wondering if they have all been cancelled due to the economy.

Depending on where you are going to buy, you may not need a down payment if you can qualify for a USDA loan.

here are some things to do to help save: 1) eliminate all debt so that you are no longer paying interest expense 2) drive used cars so do not have loan payments on cars 3)pay for items with cash. you make better buying decisions when you use cash instead of debit or credit cards.

Contact your local county offices to see. If you go FHA, you only need 3.5% for down payment. But unfortunately, those are not your only expenses when buying real estate. You will have just as much in closing costs. And you should have an inspection and purchase title insurance. Yep, everyone has to get a piece of the pie and it appears that you are nickeled and dimed to death! LOL
