Question

Chase credit card! HELP! "late payment"?

I have two credit I got with Washington Mutual which is now CHASE. I pay ALL my payments online and have NEVER been late. I got a notice last week that I had a late payment on one card. When I called about it, I was told that my payment was due September 6th. Their records show I went INTO my account on September 3rd, and PAID three days BEFORE payment was due but didn't schedule the payment to go through until the 7th. This is 100% not true, I paid three days BEFORE payment was due. I would not go into my account days earlier and schedule the payment one day after it was due. When I asked chase about the OTHER credit card I paid on the same day (the 3rd). They said for that card I did the same thing, paid on the 3rd, but scheduled it for the 7th. (that payment wasn't due until the end of the month). They are NOT saying it was just posted to my account a few days later, they are saying I paid for both cards on the 3rd but SCHEDULED them for the 7th. It makes ZERO sense to me. Looked at my bank account and I had MORE than enough money to cover both cards (which I already knew) and had no reason to schedule them late. What can I do? They won't budge? I feel as though I am being targeted in some sort of scam. Why on EARTH would I go in and pay early and schedule the payment one day late? I have NEVER been late on a payment.

They are a horrible bank and just plain don't care. I have never been late either but last month went over my line by $12 and now they are raising my interest rate to 31% in a couple months. I called and asked for them to adjust it as it was in error and have always been a good client over the last 10 years with no issue. They said no so I will be closing the account... Good luck!

they are charging you for being one day late?? that's kinda excessive... my credit union has a 4 day grace period. i forgot to pay completely one time, and they were nice enough to reverse the late fee. i wonder if the default for the online form was the next business day, which would have been sept 7th. sounds like you should find a new bank/credit card.

This should be easy, just show them the print-out or saved document that shows confirmation of payment amount and payment date. You do keep that every month, right? (Will you start keeping it from now on?)

Try writing a letter to their corporate office or to the BBB. This usually get their attention & a person higher up will call you back & work things out for you. I've done this 2 or 3 times with WAMU before they became Chase. Sometimes you have to use that :I'll bank elsewhere if I have too" but usually you'll get it taken care of. Hope this helps! www ...

Dear customer, Proverbs 22:7 says "The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender" So in good Christian tradition, you borrowed money from us, and so now you are our slave. To insure that you stay in slavery, we will raise your interest rate, so you'll never be able to pay off your debt to us.

The same thing has just happened to me. I have never had a late payment. My payment was due the 21st, was sent more than a week before, and noted as received the 22nd, giving me a $39 late fee. I always pay in full, I don't keep a balance. I had heard about the new Chase Bank cheating on the Suze Orman show, so I checked my credit card account and sure enough there was the late fee. My calls also fell on deaf ears. I am trying to sell and buy a new house, so this is the last thing I need. IS THIS OUR INTRODUCTION TO THE 30% FINANCE CHARGE?
