Question

upgrading credit cards and raising limits?

I have 4 credit cards: Amex WaMu/Chase Cap.One Wells Fargo I have a credit score of 809 and i want to work on raising my credit limits and upgrading my cards. I got the WF when i was 18 graduating high school and Amex when i was 20. Im now 24. My income is only about 20,000 without tips being on the books. My limits are only a couple thousand on each. Can i call each company and ask for an upgraded card and limit? or should i call one wait a few months then call the next (About upgrading)? As long as i keep the same card number will it hurt my score to get an upgraded card?(Trying to go from a Amex true earning to a Platinum Amex if they even let me with such little income) Stop using credit thats a funny one. Thanks for your concern i just rotate cards and pay them off. I only want a higher cl so it would be pretty much impossible to even use 50% of it.

You will not likely get credit limit increases on that income. Creditors are current cutting credit limits even for "well qualified" customers. Do not obsess about "upgrading" credit cards - you're falling for credit card industry marketing hype. You actually have too many open cards right now for your income.

Your problem is you have too many open lines of credit. You will not get them to agree to that on your small income.

Leave the credit cards as is. Next month the credit cards are going to start a serious attack on card holders by adding annual fees and raising rates even further. Do not bring any attention to your cards. For top scores - keep paying off those credit cards in full each month. /

You can call them and upgrade the limit. Sometimes they do without checking your score, that's better. That's generally after 1 year. If they say that they will check your score, it's not worth much. you might find www ... useful for credit card information

Get a clue about how to use money. If your income is $20,000.00 your debt is obviously to high or they would love to offer you more credit. It is a scam. Quit using credit period. Most people don't need it but are scammed into thinking they have to use Other Peoples Money to get anything. It is a trap. Your credit score does nothing but let you borrow money that you don't have and don't need. There are no upgrades in credit cards, just easier ways for them to take your money. Just think, if you buy with credit you are only paying more for everything you buy.
