Contact each credit bureau separately through their website. Experian.com Equifax.com Transunion.com Look around for the tab to freeze your credit. First you must have all your reports. Preferably printed out. Go to annualcreditreport.com to see your reports totally free. No credit card required. Now, to freeze it will cost you a about $5 by each company. Well worth the money you are safe, sound and secure. Not sure how to temporarily remove the freeze - but I've heard its easy - in case you need a car loan on the spot. /

Not sure if you are in the US, but I don't think you can freeze your credit...you just do not use your card or cut it up, or even put the card away and forget about it. The companies do not want you to freeze it, they want you to use it. By not using it, and just paying it down is the best way to 'freeze' it in your own way. Calling a cc company is the best way to approach it. They will tell you if they freeze or not. But as far as I know, they do not.
