If Gold Canyon isnt a Pyramid Scheme why do they have downline & uplines?

it seems to me that the Gold Canyon Candle marketing system allows for downlines where you profit off-of when they make money for you. Isn't this a pyramid scheme? I've seen other sites say you must sell to make money, but they over a increasing downline which looks like a pyarmid picture. help?
