Advice on what to do with advertising on my website?
I have made a website, which will soon be going live. It will be completely free to use, and solely an information website, but the information I will be providing will be very popular and the website will get loads of hits, I then want to offer banner space for advertising to other companies, but do I have to have it registered as a business to do this? If so, how do I go about that, as it will only be a website and wont be selling any products other than "banner space" ? Thanks Ant

Depend where you are, but if I am not wrong in USA you don't have to register a company. But you have to declare your income to the IRS if it's more than the minimum value to pay the taxes. So I would suggest you to open a Business account in a bank such as Wachovia, it was free one year ago. And get all your income paid on that account, make all your expenses paid from that account and than if the balance is more than I think 21 000 US per years than contact a accountant to make your declaration as a sole proprietor. Social bookmarking Etc... but forums signature link building is grate way to get backlink these links behave like user votes for your site and your site will index in biggest Search Engines Very fast this is the short way to get big Traffic.

You can use classifieds to promote your website. Here's a list: Usfreeads.com, Ebidorbuy.co.uk Craigslist.org, Kijiji.com, Uk.freeads.net, Ablewise.com, Vivastreet.co.uk or Classifieds.aol.co.uk etc. Other ways. You can write relevant articles and submit to popular article submitting websites. Write Blogs using blogger.com or wordpress.com or typepad.com. You can provide RSS/XML Feeds. Submit your site to social networking sites like Bebo or Facebook.
