the other posters are correct. but the key for medicare on the 2 years is when did they determine her disability date? in some cases when they approve SSDI, they will make a date when they believed she became disabled, so say they determined her disability date to be Jan 3, 2009, then she would be eligible for medicare on Jan 3, 2011. see if you can find the exact date that they determined her disability date. as for disability placard, any doctor can do, so if she goes to a free clinic if there is one, then have them fill out paperwork so she can get. also have her check to see if she qualifies for medicaid in your state. good luck

She qualifies for SSDI then she qualifies for Medicare, age has no bearing. Also Medicaid is available..Call Social Services and put them to work on this. Spouse qualified for Social Security Disability at age 55 and Medicare was included

You are correct, she won't qualify for Medicare for two years. She can go visit a doctor or go to a free clinic without health insurance. She should also apply with her state Medicaid department.

Medicaid. If she's already disabled, no private insurance company will give her insurance. But there's a two year wait for SSDI - so once she's eligible for THOSE payments, she should be eligible for Medicare at the same time.
