Question

Can you offer some advice and tips to help out with my loan modification?

I am applying for the Making home Affordable modification, my lender Citimortgage is being very difficult, they want me to enroll in their hardship program instead where if my application is approved with them they will let me miss 3 payments and put it into a 3rd mortgage account (I have a first and second). They got hundreds of billions of dollars from the gov to modify loans which I am a better candidate for, since my property value is significantly lower than my mortgage balance plus I have a reduction of income so I longer term modification with lower rates makes more sense than skipping a couple payments only to add to the principle at credit card high rates. My lender is being very difficult and said it would take them 90 days or so to review my application, I already missed this month's payment so I would be in foreclosure by then. Any tips to get them to move faster to avoid a foreclosure? Is it worth hiring an attorney? I am on a tight budget and don't know if I could afford one. This is in CA. Please help@!

They aren't going to modify your loan before it is in foreclosure status, modifacations are done to avoid them, not simply line your pockets.

Look in your telephone directory for financial consultants, call them and explain your situation to them. There is some government money to keep you from foreclosure. Enter "avoiding foreclosure" in Google.
