PLEASE HELP! 10 PTS! Visa gift card website is telling me my newly-purchased gift card is a possible fraud!?
i've bought many of these prepaid visa debit gift cards before, and i've never had this problem. when i first get my card, i usually go to visa's gift card website to register it under my name, so i can begin using it. this is what i did, and i entered the correct credit card number and security number. i also put in '9999' for the section for the last 4 digits of your phone number, since you're supposed to put that if you're going into your card account for the first time. i put in all this info atleast 3 times and it never worked. by the 3rd time, it said that the card could be a possible fraud! i JUST purchased this card new from vons 20 minutes ago, and they activated it for me. what's going on? what can I do? i've tried calling, and when they asked for me to punch in my account number, they said it was INVALID, but i know i've put in the correct information! i've tried 6 times and it's right in front of my eyes, how could i go wrong? this is becoming annoying and serious. i paid 80 dollars for it and i've really got to make some payments. please, i would REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATE A GOOD ANSWER!

why didnt you use your own phone number ? why did you use 9999 and you did 3 times lots of times that would freze up the account i think thats the problem cause the computer thinks you dont know your own phone number! so it freeze the card call customer service dont push any buttons hopefully it will ring though to customer rep who could unfreeze the card also you might want to check www ... this website lists way to adviod the touch tone hassles and speak with a rep it might help

Why not simply go back to Vons, tell them what happened, and ask them to replace it with a new one? Or maybe try using your real last 4 digits instead of 9999, because they might have changed their software to no longer work that way.

You have probably "locked" it for trying to use the 9999 # so many times. It will have to be reset to use. Try to contact customer service again or call the place where it was purchased. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT where you bought it..

It might take it more than 20 minutes to activate, maybe even a day. Next time don't use gift cards to pay bills but get a proper prepaid Visa or mastercard so you can keep it and use it over time.
