Both types of video have there uses. What I suggest is to have a video that needs to be clicked with an audio file or text telling visitors why they should watch. a good conversion rate is between 2-5%. The average conversion rate in PPC advertising is around 1.5%. The key to your conversion is to put your ad in front of a targeted audience. Most pay par click sites allow you to target keywords, but more interesting you can use negative keywords. Using negative keywords allows you to ignor searches that you don't want. For instance if you want buyers you would put free as a negative keyword. If you target buying keywords such as product dealer you will find more people in a buying stage. Targeting these keyword and using the negative keywords will raise your click through and conversion rates. User initiated video is way less intrusive than a video that starts as soon as someone lands on your page. You can see an example of this here on this landing page: www ... CTR will always be higher for products/services/needs for which there's already strong demand, and lower for those that are relatively unknown, new, multi-faceted and/or difficult to describe. So, for example, lots of people search for recipes online -- so an ad that's triggered by the keyword "stuffing recipe" will result in high CTRs if the text promises to provide the ultimate recipe for stuffing. By contrast, an ad that's triggered by the keyword "productivity software" will get a lower CTR if the ad text (necessarily) describes vague features and benefits (e.g. "Save Time and Make fewer Mistakes"). The conversion rate will always be higher for "soft" offers than for "hard" offers. So an ad that offers free downloadable mp3s will usually result in a higher conversion rate than an ad that leads to a site that sells high-priced products or services.

A video that allows the visitor to start it is better because the visitor feels like they have control over when and how much info you're giving them. When you take that control away from them by putting up a video that starts as soon as the page opens, they're less likely to view it as long. As far as CTR goes, this is a hotly debated topic: what constitutes a "good" click-through rate? From a purely statistical standpoint, there's no such thing. The honest answer to the question is, “It depends.” Click-through rates are naturally going to vary from campaign to campaign, and even from keyword to keyword. Everything involved in the way your ad is displayed plays a part, from your ad copy to the ad’s ranking on the results page. Right: so while you want to have a "high" click-through rate, there's really no magic number. Generally speaking, as we mentioned above, you want as high a click-through rate as possible. Except when you don't - when higher click through rates are actually bad for business If a keyword isn't pertinent to your business or isn't going to generate sales, leads, branding gains, etc. then a high click-through rate for that term is actually bad for business. The reasoning for this is fairly clear: You're paying for every click and a lot of clicks generate a lot of ad spend. Some times you're generating clicks on keywords that are priced too high, and won't turn a profit even if they convert. Irrelevant terms and clicks are just spending money without bringing in additional business. SO you don't always want higher click-through rates: what you want are high click through rates on keywords that are: Relevant - Have to do with your ad text, your landing page, and your offering. Affordable - Keywords that aren't going to be profit-prohibitive. So, in a nut shell, a good click through rate means first targeting the right words, then getting as many people as you can to click on those ads.
