Can a sole proprietor open more than one business?

In order to open more than one business location does a business have to be a corporation or can it be owned by a sole proprietor? Also, In order to franchise would a business have to be a corporation?

yes you can open as many as you like. but it would be better to be a corp. has more advantages.
