Why are so many online advertisements scams?
Why is so much online advertising oriented around blatant scams? It seems like no matter what website it's always the same... shoot the duck and lose your credit card number, give us your address for a free iPod and tons of junk mail, buy our "guide" to making money with google or fixing your teeth... why are there so many scam ads instead of real ads?

People are falling for them and as long as they continue to do so it will be profitable for the scammer. Interestingly enough there are so many people who fall for these things but think everything legit is a scam, no matter how much proof they see. It's simply supply and demand. As long as there are people out there who will fall for scams there will be scammers willing to take their money. The internet makes it even easier, because the scams can be run anonymously from anywhere in the world.
