Western Union money transfer
Question
Am I being scammed? Craigslist scams?
I recently posted an ad on craigslist for a 1981 Alvarez Yairi guitar, I'm asking for 750$. I got an email, suprisingly soon, that said: "consider the guitar bought, please take down the other ads of the guitar." It continued to read, "I will be paying certified check. Please give me your address, name and phone number. You will not be responsible for shipping. I will have my mover come over as soon as your check is cashed. As soon as you get the check please respond. I'll be sending a payment worth 3,500$ to cover the shipment of the items I've bought from you. So as soon as you receive the check have it cashed and remove your money for the item and send the remaining funds to the shipper via Western Union or Gram money transfer. You will have to deduct $100 for your running around that I have caused you during the transaction period so that my mover can show for the shipment because his funds has been included. Can I really trust you with this money?" I'm only asking 750, and nothing costs that much to ship. My inexperienced spidey senses are going haywire right now. I feel almost like an illiterate child for asking this but please any advice is appreciated. thanks guys wonder team powers ACTIVATE!

Its one of the oldest scams in the book. You cash the check, wire him the cash, then a day later the check bounces. If anything have him mail you the check and see if the bank can trace it because you think it may be counterfeit. Just dont wire him any money or the guitar

YES it will be a fake check, you will cash it and send him the extra money then the bank will find out its fake and come after you for the money. But hey, if you need a quick 3500 dollars get his check cash it and keep the money until the bank finds out.

This is obviously a scam. It appears he forget to change the details before copying and pasting from another scam email. I mean, it must be one whopper of a guitar if it requires a "mover"!

It is a scam. If he sends you a check, shred it! Don't take it to the bank. They can't trace it and they may just call the police on you!
