Question

Is it really worth doing business-to-business telemarketing?

I offer a service for businesses, and I've done a little bit of telemarketing with little success. I called two places, and both times secretaries answered it. They both asked, "Can I take a message?" The first one I just said, "No", the second place, I asked, "Would the owner be interested in [service]?" and I got disconnected immediately. Is business-to-business telemarketing really worth it? I know people don't like cold calls, but I thought it might've been worth a shot. How can you get around the secretaries? Is it worth bothering at all? What are some other ways to target and advertise to businesses?

Business to Business (B2B) is very difficult and takes a hardened salesperson to be succussful. Business owners have not got the time to listen to salespeople sales speals. It takes a person with a VERY thick skin to sell B2B. Especially over the phone because it's very easy to fob you off.
