Question

How do I resign as a company director if the other directors will not let me leave from a limited company?

A couple of years ago I took on 2 partners as shareholders/directors of a small but solvent courier firm, now that they've ruined it and i don't like what's going on there I asked them if I could resign.Basically they won't let me I feel like they are holding me to ransom, they won't sign my form 288b from companies house and I am not getting out of my liabilities, but I don't want to be accountable or liable for any other mistakes they make, also do I have to sell my shares back to them if I am allowed to resign?

They cannot stop you resigning. Download the form you need from Companies House, fill it in and send it off. The only downside would be if you want money for your shares in which case you need to speak to a lawyer as it sounds as though things could get messy.

You should discuss this with a labor attorney and/or a corporate attorney to determine your options.
