Question
Holiday Pay: Can anybody help me?
My husband was not supposed to work on Labor Day but he ended doing so because his boss requested it. Today, he received his bi-weekly check and it shows he was only paid regular hours on that day. He works from Monday to Thursday 10 hours a day. So his check reflects 40 regular hours for that week (10 reg. hours on the Holiday the other 30 divided in Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Don't they still owe them 10 hours? He was going to get paid for that Holiday even if he didn't work but since he worked doesn't he get paid double the amount? Please, advise. He's confused and the Payroll Department thinks the check is right.

He'd only get holiday pay if the company offered time & a half for all holidays. The company I work for only pays time & a half for Christmas & New Years. I would suggest checking out the employee handbook to see if Labor Day is included in holiday pay.
