We want to know what would be the most successfull way to market our business with a small budget?
We have a small (in-home) family owned retail business. Yellow pages, door to door, direct mail or other?

Hi: You'll want to stay away from PPC (pay per click) for now but definitely invest in some online marketing. If you don't have a website, get one done. Then write a press release and have some articles written and posted. Doing direct mail offline is also effective. To reduce your costs there you could do a postcard that introduces you and your business. Provide an incentive to get in touch with you like a discount or a free report, that sort of thing. There are a lot thing that you can do to get off to the right start. A website is a must but you need to to know how your clients will search for you on the internet first ( what keywords ). And what type of web site to get ( never flash for search engine ranking ). You can get a good website with good SEO (search engine optimization) for around $500+ depending on what your budget is and how much your budget is. Some will run that much plus $150+ for continuing SEO to dominate search engine terms. Video is also a great way to promote your business and search engines love them. I would give a discount or something else for a video testimonial from your clients. Twitter is also a great place to get a good fallowing and promote your business. Don't just promote your business. Make sure to have good content and talk about yourself. Facebook and myspace are also a must. Branding is a must! Get a logo and use local listings like google local and yahoo local. A list of current customers with email/address/name etc... you need a way to get a hold of your client base. Current clients spend 67% more than new ones. Direct mail campain ....just have an offer your customer can't resist ( free/discount/buy one get one.............) this is a good start!
