Question

First lady has 22 assistants...for what?! We are paying 1.6 million dollars a year for this?

Republican, democrat, white, black - whatever - it doesn't even matter anymore - people need to take off the blinders and see how ridiculous all of this is getting! Just an FYI - BO is suppose to get 400k a year and his "staff" is running the country (or pretending to) - what does Michelle Obama get paid? AND WHY DOES SHE NEED THIS??? That 1.6 million a year could be going to so many better things than making this woman feel as important as she thinks she is. Note the comparison to how many staffers even Hillary Clinton had when she was practically Bills right hand WOman back in the day. “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it” —Albert Einstein First LadyRequires More Than Twenty Attendants July 7, 2009 Dr. Paul L. Williams "In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, that's why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, "Michelle Obama No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as theFirst Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just thinkMary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for theWhite House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.. How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public: 1. $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff) 2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Special Assistant to the President andWhite House Social Secretary) 4. $102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady) 18. $43,000 - Tubman, Samantha (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office) 19. $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady) 20. $36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary) 21. $35,000 - Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant) 22. $35,000 - Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady) There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three;Jackie Kennedy one;Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket. Every Day this thing seems to get worse! This is a very nice staff for someone who does not ever like the USA. Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe . Copyright 2009 Canada Free Press.Com canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12652 You can judge me all you want, but thankfully, for right now - I have the right to question government spending, especially since I pay taxes. How many homes could be rebuilt for Katrina victims with that money? It's so funny how much the Obamas get compared to the Bush's to justify behavior... isn't Obama supposed to be a change from the whole Bush thing? I'm sorry, I didn't realize I have to state all of my disappointments in our government over my lifetime and from what I know about our governments history to justify my having another one. Does your job pay your spouse because you got hired? I have had a problem with government spending overall - not just this presidency - so don't try to turn this into some Bush was worse - so what - does that justify Obama being just like him if not worse? I'm not a hater in anyway - but I will voice my opinion as it is my right to do so - and hopefully you won't win you fight to censor anyone that dares question the almight Obamaman.

Michelle Obama makes almost as many public appearances as her husband. She speaks on behalf of the causes she supports and does an INCREDIBLE amount of charity work, both by donation and endorsement. Her assistants aren't giving her manicures you dunce. It might be hard to see all that from Canada, eh?

Why does she need any help. She's the mom to 2 girls and the Pres's wife, nothing more.We didn't hire the dude (elect) to look at his old lady, just to do his job.How many jobs could that money create or how many people could it feed or how many homes could be saved. We don't have royalty in this country, just working people.

Take the time to read this. This kind of thing isn't unprecedented; despite the claim of the letter, Laura Bush had nearly as many. Why didn't you care about this a year ago? www ...

Maybe you should figure out what is really going on with the first lady and then form your own opinion with facts. The first lady is a very busy woman and her duties are not taken lightly. Open your eyes to the big picture and look with love instead of hate. Peace to you

She should have to pay out of pocket. Between O's czars and M's secretaries I think there will be a big change in the US come the next election cycle.

The Imperial Presidency and the Imperial First Lady. Both have lived well at the public trough for decades, and neither have ever produced a bloody thing worth paying for. Their constant travels, immense entourages (over 500 to Europe, over 1000 to the Caribbean), appalling layers of staff, and worse are a huge burden on the taxpayer. Even according to Snopes' count, Laura Bush had 18 staff in 2008, MO has a total of 24. That's a 33-1/3% increase! No wonder the National Debt went up 10% in the first few months of this year. No wonder deficits are going to continue running at least a trillion dollars a year for a next decade - assuming not just recovery but an economic boom. But there can not be any boom because of the massive load of debt!
