venture capitalists
Question
Can a person be president / managing partner of multiple companies?
I'm curious, I've recently been offered an internship position by one of my fraternity alumni. Hes managing partner of a small investment partnership/business consulting firm. I am a little cautious though because the whole thing almost seems too good to be true. I was offered the job with little interviewing. He keeps taking me out to things like suites at sporting events and expensive restaurants. I attended a client meeting meeting with him as well. I've never been to the office though, we always meet at his house or over the phone. When I google his name, I noticed he showed up as President and managing partner of two other firms. They list him as "previously working" at the firm i'm offered the job at. I've never heard him mention either of these companies before, and theyre not listed on his linkedin page. Would it be common for an investment partner/venture capitalist/consultant to be president or involved in multiple firms? Or have you heard of scam companies listing executives who don't really work for them to seem more legitimate? His list of experience seems pretty reputable. I am not sure of what kind of scam he'd be trying to lure me into if that were the case. I'm a college student with no credit, and no money...which i'm pretty sure hes aware of. He has a huge house, and obviously lots of money, so maybe hes just being a nice guy. I'm just being careful not to get into anything i'm going to regret

yep some people work on Boards and can be executives of two companies such as Google and Apple, as long as the companies dont compete too much say Wall Mart and Toyota that could work but being on the Board of Toyata and Suzuki that would not

I too would be a little off put by his wooing you for a jr position. He should be totally upfront about his association with the other entities that you've googled. I think you should start asking the hard questions, unless you wish to be set up as the fall guy in some scam operation.
