Question

Do I need an MBA to become a business consultant?

I am 46 years old. I have three BBA's in Finance, Logistics and General Business. I have worked as a consultant in the automotive industry, but wish to begin a career as a business consultant more in the acquisitions area or finance. What are my prospects? I cannot return to school for an MBA. I wanted to years ago, but my marriage wouldn't allow it. Now I wish I had said damn the marriage and took care of my career. Not at my age. I need to work, but think it really isn't worth the effort now to change careers so late. Thanks. I dont have the time in life to get an MBA now. It's not worth the investment.

Maybe you don't NEED it, but it would definitely help particularly as your practical experience is in the automotive industry, and not in financial services. It would depend on the clients you are trying to attain and their expectations. Check around to find the names of other business consultants with whom you would be competing, and find out what their backgrounds are.
