Question
My friend owns his own business. Should I list him as a job reference and say I worked for him?
Although, I kind of really did work for him by helping him find suppliers etc. If I list working for him as management, and they call him to verify and he says yes.. that's all a company would need right? Can they call the IRS to check my employment history? I just need something good to add to my resume and make it stand out.

Don't ever lie, especially on a job application. The truth will come out & you may regret telling a lie. Your resume needs to be who you are, not who you wish you were. bybored: A lie is a lie & they don't come in colors or sizes. I learned that when I was a kid.

i dont recommend lying on your resume/application...but little white lies dont hurt. as long as he says you worked there, thats all they need. they wont call the IRS or anything. just make sure you guys stick with the same story as far as when you started, when you left, why you left, how much you made, what your duties where, etc. dont put things on your resume that you dont know though just to get a job. so for example dont say i know how to use powerpoint if you dont cause then once they hire you they are gonna find out you were lying.

I would put it on there. But don't make the job look like hard work because you might make yourself look too good then disappoint them.

Don't lie. What happens if they ask him what you did there, and ask you the same question, and your answers don't match?

What they don't know won't hurt them.
