If it is a portable window unit....you should buy it but only after asking your landlord if it is OK to buy one and install it. You should avoid at all costs...using screws or nails to secure it to the window. If your landlord feels sorry for you in some way, I guess he could buy the unit for you...but it better stay there if you ever leave. I have had tenants take light bulbs when they have left...so I am sure an air conditioner wouldn't be out of the realm of taking too.

If you want it, then you should. There's no law which states that the landlord needs to pay for one, unless your lease clearly states that the landlord has the responsibility of putting one in. You can get a room air conditioner for about $200.

An air conditioner is consider a luxury not a necessity, the landlord must pay for the necessities, but you pay for the luxuries.. But you could play it smart and go to the landlord and say you need an air conditioner, and maybe he'll pay for it... Hope i helped...

Depends what was in the rental agreement that you signed. If it doesn't state that the landlord will provide additional domestic items for the property then he isn't obliged to.

Check your lease, it may tell you who is responsible. Generally, if you have central air conditioning, it would be the landlords responsibility If you have window units, they are probably your responsibility. If so get it soon, they are really cheap this time of year.

It depends. If the property has central air conditioning and it needs repair, then the landlord generally pays for it. If there is a wall mounted air conditioner that was there when you moved in, then the landlord would generally pay for this also, especially if the property was advertised as having air conditioning. But, if there is no air conditioning at all and you want it, then you would have to pay for one yourself. You would have to ask the landlord for permission to install it.

If it came with the place than the landlord would otherwise you have to get your own. If it was there when you moved in its part of the place, you should be able too assume it works and expect it to keep working.
