Question
Can a non-profit charge others to advertise on their website?
Say you become a well known non-profit and have a great web presence, is it illegal to charge others to advertise on your website? Or would you have to create a separate business entity?

It is legal for a non-profit to provide services in return for pay. You can sell ads. Since you are a non-profit, 100% of the ad revenue must be spent on the charitable portion of the organization. You can not make a "profit".
