Question
Collect call company trying to rip me off. Im no pushover. Do I have any recourse?
I flew in to LAX after 5 years of living abroad. Couldnt find my ride. I had no US cash on me, and I see the pay phone has a slot for swiping my credit card. It says 25 cents for 15 minutes, I swipe the card, and make a few calls. Either no answer, or a voice mail. Finally I reach my contact, talk long enough to tell him which terminal I'm in. Go online that night, and I find out I owe the company somewhere around $600. I'm sure people are going to say they didn't break the law. But these people make their money by counting on most people to roll over. I hear of ways of giving them enough trouble that they go ahead and reduce or even cancel the fee, such as asking them to send a receipt, asking them to send documentation on their rates, asking for binding arbitration in a dispute, etc. etc. Anyone have any ideas?

File a dispute with your credit card company, but do it soon!
