Question
How long does it take for a new home (new construction) appraisal take to get done?
We are doing our final walk-through on Friday and are scheduled to close next Friday, the 14th. My main concern is, will the appraisal get done in time for the closing? How long does it normally take to get an appraisal done? (we are 1st time home buyers.) It is being done through Ryland Homes and it is a VA loan.

Depends on when the appraisal was ordered. But I complete and submit mine typically 48 hours after the inspection. Keep in mind, with new laws, lenders have to provide you the buyer with a copy of that appraisal 3 days BEFORE closing. So ASK ASK ASK.

So you have 6 business days. I doubt it. It usually takes 3-5 days to get the appraisal once it's been ordered. Then it goes to underwriting where it can take 1-3 days. Once underwriting signs off it can take 1-3 days to fund the loan and get the paperwork.
