What do I do when looking at an apartment?
My husband and I have been living with his father for a few years now, but we're looking to get our own place now. We have a few places scoped out, and we looked at one and the whole situation was awkward. What exactly am I suppose to do when looking at an apartment? What other questions should I ask?

Apartment location good, building clean and no teens hanging around make noise. Apartment it self. Good sturdy door with locks, does not smell, cleanliness, leaking pipes. rust stains in tub or sink. Make sure it has enough closets, window locks, light fixtures work, appliances work. Stand and look around, can you picture yourself living there. Can you hear the neighbors next door and upstairs. Does the noise bother you. Remember you sign the lease for one year and there is no way of breaking a lease. Can you afford the rent, where are laundry facilities, how is parking.
