Question
How do you get an unfair bill removed from credit report.?
Direct TV cable service promo offered four TV's hooked up, they only did one. After numerous e-mails and hours on the phone, I was told I would not have to pay for svc. until the work was finished. They never completed work, I then cancelled there service, yet still was charged, and has since ended up on my credit report..

You can contest it. I had one on my credit report that was not mine just someone with the same name. It was quite a hassle but eventually I proved it wasn't mine. Contact the credit bureau and the collection agency handling it. Good Luck.

Log onto each credit reporting agency and dispute the item on your credit report. They each provide the ability to do this online.

When you signed up for Direct TV service you entered into a contract that probably had an early termination fee. If this is the case, then it is a legitimate debt. Review the contract with terms and conditions that you signed.

Disputing this debt with the credit bureaus is a waste of your time. The credit bureaus just collection information. They don't make judgments as to whether the bill is fair or not. It's yours and it can be legitimately reported. Your fight is back with Direct TV. When you were going thru all the problems with them, did you bother to put anything in writing? So often cable, satellite, and cell phone companies give you the run around when trying to resolve disputed charges. All the phone calls are a waste of time. You should always get it in writing. Do you have those emails? In your case, send the letter to Direct TV detailing the incomplete installation and your cancellation. Request that they remove the account from collections and clear the unfair charges.

Just dispute it, and they will have to remove it or take them to small claims court and you may get more than what is on your credit, about $1000.00
