Question
Besides Dell and HP, are there any (major) American computer companies left?
Compaq was, pretty long ago now, bought up by HP, as was eMachines. IBM sold their consumer division, which at the end included just the venerable Thinkpad line, to Lenovo, which is, I think, a Korean company. And Gateway is now owned by Acer, a Taiwanese conglomerate. Besides Dell and HP, are there any big-name American computer manufacturers still around? And feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken as to the nationalities of Lenovo and Acer. I'm talking PCs here...not Macs - I know very well that Apple is still in California.

No matter how American a company is that sells computers, each and every part inside of them was imported. All that you're getting with Dell is that you know the imported parts were put together in Texas. With HP I'm pretty sure they don't assemble them in the U.S.. All the computers I and my friends/family have are 'American-Built' computers as I assembled them myself.. with imported parts of course.
