Apartment trying to rip me off and i want to take an Action Against Apartment Company?

Hi, First of all Thanks to everyone for looking at my question. My proble is that last year i signed a lease with an apartment in Plymouth MN for 12 months . I bought their job Addendum by paying $400. My job contract was terminated in MArch and i found another one in Omaha nebraska. According to the Job Addendum i have to give them a notice of two months to vacate the apartment if i am being transfered to another state . Also i need to provide the apartment maangement a letter from my employer stating that My job has been moved to another state. So i gave them a 2 months notice end of march and a letter from employer . Next day i got a letter from the Manager at the apartment complex saying that my Notice to vacate has been accepted and my move out date is May 31st Noon. I moved out turned over the keys and eveything to them and also gave them a forwading address. Now i called them on 22nd july asking about the security deposite refund. The people at the Leasing office gave me a number of their accountant and asked me to talk to him. I contacted his , fisrt off that was the rudest person i have ever talked to . He was rude and threatend me. I asked him about the security and was informed that i Owe them $1700. I asked why then he said i owe them the rent of June . I stopped him there and tried to explain him . But this guy did not listen and threatend that if i interupt again then hes gonna file a law suit against me . Then He started explaining again. He again said i owe them $971 for june rent , where i laughed (as in Yea rt laugh) and then he called me a smart ass and threatened me again. I told him to do whatever he can and F***O** SOB and i put the phone down.He immidieately calls me back saying " Well See whos laughing tomorrow". I never recieved any letter from them saying i owe them money not even a call eventhough they had my new address. Now i dont mind paying the money for the damages to the apartment( FYI : Apartment was in Preestine condition when i gave it to them. still they are asking me to pay over $700 just for the damages on top of my $350 security) but i dont get it why should i pay them Junes rent when i have the Letter from them signed by their manager stating that My request to vacate has been accepted and also it was because of a job for which i provided them the Letter of my Employer. My Question is what can the Apartment owning company do? Can they file a law suit against me on this? And if they send it to colloection or file a law suit what options do i have?
