sample business plan
Question
Do you think this is a good idea for a business?
I am creating a business plan for a project in one of my management classes. My idea is a wine store. In this store, there would be both domestic and imported wines from around the world. So, my goal would be to offer a greater selection than the average beer/wine store offers. Also, in this store, I can include things that go well with wine such as different cheeses (there are many) and fruits, a huge selection of accessories, as well as a wine gift selection, and equipment rental. I can offer occasional wine sampling, too.... So, it would be more like a one-stop wine outlet store that offers things for many people and occasions. Do you think if the location is right, the business would work? Thanks! Thanks for the input and the helpful advice! I think it is a creative idea. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be a successful business if it is in the right location..

That sounds pretty cool actually. Especially if it's in the right area. Probably in a higher end borough of a larger city... I live right outside of Nashville, and my area's kind of hip and enjoys their wine and beer, so I'd say it'd be pretty successful here. Also, if there were any vineyards in the region, you could offer a local section. Maybe host a local vineyard tasting event each month. It'd be awesome if there was a kitchen that you held cooking events to help customers pair foods with wines. If your business plan was good enough, you might be able to get an appliance dealer to sponsor the kitchen with discounted appliances. Kind of like a wine-lover's oasis. But with enough knowledge and product to turn a novice into an aficionado as well. Now I want wine :)

Oddbins an Threshers are closing down all the time. Their business model closely matches what you are proposing so I'd say don't do it.
