Question

I'm an independent contractor trying to get paid my commissions, what recourse do I have?

Since I am not an employee, I don't believe the New York Department of Labor will be able to help me. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

small claims court you can sue up to 5000.00 and if you have the proof the commissions are owed it should not be an issue, call the dept of labor and ask them what to do they may very well be able to help you. good luck

The labor dept won't get involved. You'll have to sue, maybe in small claims court if the amount meets the limits for that.
