Question
Question about becoming an insurance agent?
So I know a number of people in the insurance business, and I have decided to become one as well. Anyways, I cannot talk to these people for a few days in person, so I will ask on here and see what you guys say. All of these people I know have there insurance liscene and they work for an independent state farm for an office, but all they are is an "Office Representative". Anyways. How does one go about becoming an agent and not just an office representative. If I wanted to work with State Farm would I have go through the internship program? is it lik this with other companies as well?

I would recommend being an independent agent at an independent agency that works with many different insurance companies.

You pass a test and get a license, then get the appointment. Most agents wash out, in the first year - like 95%. Because if you don't selll, you don't get paid.

Yes, you will have to go through the intern program, but it is not difficult. Yes, you will have to get your license, but again this is not hard either. The tough part as mbrcatz states is the odds of you making it in commission sales only, are maybe 2 out of a hundred.
