Question
Which apartment sounds better to you?
First of all, it's only me, my daughter, and our dog. The first apartment is an old Victorian. It has 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. The landlord lives in the apartment next door, and is very fussy when it comes to noise. She also has a dog and is worried that the two will be barking 24/7. They have a garage, but we will not be allowed to use it, and will have a spot in the driveway and on the street. It is across the street from my daughter's school, and convienient to many things. We are not allowed to use the patio, backyard, or garage. The price is $1,900 a month. The second is much bigger. It is 3 floors, 4 bedroom and 3.5 bathrooms. We don't need that much space (its only the three of us), but we have a lot of furniture because our last house was VERY big. The landlord is very laidback unlike the other. He insulated the whole house, including the wall that seperates the two apartments so we will not be able to hear his family (and reverse). There is a big backyard which we be able to use, and a small patio. The house is all re-done as well. It is not that convienient (about 1.5 mile walk to school). The price is $2800, but we might able to get it down to $2300-$2500. I work from my home as well, so this will act as my house/office. Sorry, no pictures. :[ These are the only two we can afford. We live in a very "high class" town, where the norm of rent is anywhere between 4.5k-8k. :[

Just me personally - I would take the second one. If you work out of your house the extra two bedrooms can be a home office and a guest room. Also, since you work from home you can walk your daughter to school everyday and walk to pick her up (take the dog and kill two birds with one stone.) I don't think I could live with a landlord that was fussy about noise cause I like to be able to have people over and not being able to use the backyard to cook out would be horrible!
