Question
How do I find out how much profit Starbucks made during the last 3 yrs.?
I am doing a project in school where I am supposed to make a presentation of a business proposal to the committee members of my company. I am supposed to convince the committee members to open an internet cafe/coffee shop in our building. I need to know how much Starbucks has made in the past three years so that I can show them the potential profits of the internet cafe/coffee shop. If anyone has a better idea like Seattle's Best or whatever; I am open to suggestions. But I need something to compare the internet cafe/coffee shop too. Thank you so much! (I have tried looking at what I believe is called EBIN, but it is hard to understand)

You can try Google Finance: www ... If you want to compare an internet cafe, type in the name of an established internet cafe and look at its income statement for profit figures. (Same for any other coffee shop you want to look for) Choose annual data and you should be able to see profit trends for the years 2005 - 2008. For current year figures, look at quarterly data. There's also data available for cash flow (you should look at cash flow from operations, which shows you how much cash is going in and out of the business from its daily operations) and balance sheet, which shows you how much the firm is in debt and how much assets and liabilities it has.

Here's the income statement for Starbucks over the last 3 years: finance ... It shows total revenue of $7.7 billion to $10.3 billion per year, and net income of 315 million to 672 million per year. Of course, that's a total for all of their stores, so you'd need to find the number of stores and divide. Even then, it might not be a fair comparison, because if you're only running a single store, your profit margins and overhead will be much different.

For a quick answer, Here you go.... finance ... Find out how many stores Starbucks has, and divide those revenue and profit numbers by the number of shops. You can use that as a rough estimate of average profit per shop. Starbucks' investor relations site will have a lot of information. investor ... . You should definitely look at the annual report media ... .
