There are some legal documents that give a person permission to sign a check that is in someone else's name. One is a Power of Attorney, another could be divorce decree. She was granted the house and probably some of the wording gave her your permission for any proceeds from the mortgage, etc. Hopefully, she got the responsibility of the mortgage as well. Read the divorce, if it doesn't make sense, take it to a lawyer. I would hope it says she has to change the financing to the house to remove the mortgage that is in your name. Otherwise, if she fails to make payments you will still be held responsible.

NO it's not legal! It's never legal to sign anyone else's name, although in some circumstances people do it and nobody actually minds. This would not be one of those times. Tell your lawyer about this immediately.
