Question

should i report to fsa?

hello, yesterday i started a new job (which i havnt returned to) as there were so many concerns i had with the company. Now the one i was mostly concerned with was regards to the regulation by the fsa. The company sells mobile phone contracts and they are all supplied with the first months insurance free of charge. If a customer asked for it to be removed before it was sent then we were advised to tell them that it couldnt be done but they could cancel as soon as they got it. The area i was concerned with was that there were many 16 year old school leavers working there. Now as far as im aware you have to be over 18 years old to sell an insurance product? am i wrong? now i dont know if they put this insurance on with every sale so that they can get around the fact that 16 year olds are not selling insurance however the way i see it is that if it cannot be removed at point of sale customers may ask questions about the policy which i dont legally think a 16 year old would be allowed to comment on? i am considering raising this to fsa so just wanted to check my facts before i contacted them as i believe this to be an illegal practice.

You should definitely ring the FSA, not only about your concerns as regards the age you are allowed to sell insurance but also regarding the point you raised about customers being forced to take out the insurance. Customers do NOT have to take out an insurance policy if they don't want to and their 'bully' methods should be reported. I'd advise you to get on the phone right away before another few thousand un-needed policies are sold by under-aged and underqualified personnel. Good luck.

I believe you are correct in that, 16 year olds cannot provide this service. You should ring the FSA advice line - and talk to them
