eBay selling
I want to take out money from my credit card, but without a cash advance (high interest rates)?
Question
pushing a product into Costco wholesale stores?
Hello professional seniors, I have a good hardware product that I sell in Ebay, and local hardware stores and makes me good fortune. Now my desire is bigger and thinking how to push my product into Costco wholesale stores. Based on your professional experience, to whom do I present my product to Costco top executives? would it be the Product Development manager, or the Research & Development manager, or the Merchandising manager? or anyone that can test and decide on my products before designing my products to fit for Costco value customers. Thank you so much in advance for your professional suggestions! Brian

Costco probably doesn't have a Product Development or R&D function as they only buy sell products. You would be in contact with their buyers or merchandising people. Get a business plan and figure out how much your product actually costs and how much profit you make on it. You will have to sell it to costco or other stores at or near cost to allow them to sell it at the retail price. If you sell it in hardware stores how much do they get for selling it? Say your hardware thing costs you $6 to make (material costs, production labor costs, and overhead- which is lights/rent/and non-production costs) and you sell it ebay retail for $12 then you make $6 or 100% profit. If it costs $6, and the hardware store allows you to sell it for $12 but then you have to give them $2 for each sold then your profit is $4 or 66% profit. If you have to sell it to Costco for $8.00 to allow them to sell it retail for $11 then your profit is only $2 or 33% Make sure that your product has good packaging, advertising materials, etc. and conforms to any safety regulations in regards to its class. Also make sure you can produce enough of the products to satisfy the demand before you approach them. If you need to produce the product make sure you have good solid legal paperwork with any third party contact manufactures so that the manufacturer doesn't rip you off. Same goes with any sell contracts with your customers- Walmart is well known for ripping off its vendors by sourcing the same exact item from some other vendor who makes it cheaper. It can be done as various people have manufactured and marketed their ideas but there are alot of pitfalls along the way. nyb
