Question
Do you think its better to call or approach new customers with a new Drain Company?
I need to take a survey of property managements in our local area to see if this service is needed. How should I approach this task?

The whole trick to sales is getting to the "decision maker", the most difficult way is "cold calling". Drop by the office and leave some literature, a card, and some small gift such as a logo pen or note pad, mouse pad or something. Try to get the name of the decision maker, then follow up your visit with a personal phone call within 24 hours and set up your presentation interview. This technique not only makes you appear more professional, but it sends the message to the potential customer that you understand that they are busy and that you care about their valuable time. Good luck

You should make an attempt to set appointments over the phone first.

by phone I think would be faster to get to more people in a small amount of time and if there not interested they hang up, end of convo and on to the next person. It is also easier to get rejected over the phone then it is to the face.

hire some people to go door to door and hand out fliers in mail boxes. this way you're not annoying people and concentrate on other things. Also, handing out fliers is a good thing to do because some people keep fliers and bring them out when they need them.

Approach. Nobody wants to deal with telemarketers which is what they'll file you under.
