Is this reply to my Craigslist ad for housing a scam?
I put an ad on Craigslist looking for housing. This is the email I got from someone: Hi there, nice to hear from you. Well that's good because I have many places available for you in the area. What's your exact price range? How soon were you looking to move? Before I show you any listings I'd like to get a feel of what you'd qualify for, we can do this by getting your credit score. Our office has a relationship with a credit report company to give our clients free credit reports, if you'd like to get one through our partner go to creditreport365 ... or you can get one through your own means, just please get this to me and we can get you into something. I look forward to speaking with you. Is this a scam just to get me to buy a credit report and then bail on me? Has anyone had experience with this? I am really frustrated b/c I need a new apartment ASAP. I'm not dumb, maybe just desperate. I just turned 18 and this is my first place that I'm getting on my own so I'm not too sure what the scams going in the housing industry are.

Definitely a scam. The link gives it away. It's a referral - so if you click on it, the guy gets a commission. In return you get what is known as a "hard pull" on your credit file, which will hurt you as the credit card companies assume you are applying for more credit or more loans and will view you more negatively. Don't fall for it. Just ignore and move on.

It's a TOTAL scam. I'm surprised you'd even ask. Anyone can see by looking at the URL what its core purpose is. It's only about credit reports, and too many inquiries on your credit is very damaging.

Don't bother replying to this one. Sounds like they just sell credit reports. I certainly would not give them my ssn so they can run a report! LOL
