Done it at least a dozen times, including multiple international moves. Be observant, learn quickly! How fast you learn determines how successful you can be. It is also helpful to have plenty of money. You'll need to apartment-hunt, job-hunt, moving costs, etc. It adds up fast.

Oh sure. And I believe that that would not be a rare proportion of Americans, too. On one count, I moved from Las Vegas to the SF Bay Area with no job or place to live... Did I do good? -- well, I thought so if it were not thought being as impractical a decision to undertake as well. Did I make friends quickly? -- well, yes, inasmuch as I am given to making wisely-so only few friends, and 'that', quickly. 'Find a job quickly? well, yes, a summer hold-over till I got better bedded into the new haunts, after which achieving I found something of solidity. On a second count, I moved from the Bay Area to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Did I do good? -- well, only somewhat given that contingencies did abruptly change; and so after ~ 6 weeks, and all but finding myself a candidate for homelessness, I salvaged what little I had remaining in worldly goods and then did I egress from NM for a tacit return to the Bay Area. Had I made friends quickly in NM? -- well, certainly had I made connections at first, for "connections" must be given space and time to evolve into what might be framed, friends, to which appearances these few people boded well at the outset. Did I find a job quickly? -- no. And yes again, I was indeed all solo, with nothing but my scruples to guide and equip me. Things take time. Sometimes on the [inner] map that we reference for our directions do we find there have come changes in the topography due the play of the free wills of others; and some sought-for dream we set out to embark upon if were there at first and felt to be magnanimous, is now no longer, or, were at most a mirage in the first place, a part of which undergoing then realizing is more an ado about discerning said illusions from what is only in truth lower realities.
