Question

Would I charge for a minor computer repair?

Im doing a part time computer services. A customer called me to troubleshoot her laptop(She said its not turning on since it got wet when somebody accidentally poured water on it.) . So I picked it up at her house, troubleshoot in my place and found out that her battery was discharged maybe the battery was got wet. So i just recharged the battery and it came on again. Bring it back to her and charged her with my rate which is $40 for troubleshooting. She complain about charging her coz the battery was only discharged and that I didnt do anything at all. But still she pay me with a little complain. did I do the right thing? help

You did right. Tell her next time you will recharge her battery for free. Or give her the first month free if she hires you to do monthly backups for a year for $600. Tell her restores are free. She didn't pay you to recharge the battery, she paid you to figure out what was wrong.

If you were doing it for free than thats another story, but if she knew you were gonna charge than thats fair. You figured out tht their was nothing wrong with it, she could have bought a new laptop if you wouldnt have figured out the problem. Plus $40 isnt much..
