Question
Where you ever scammed by a invention firm like DAVISON?
Sadly I was. To everyone out there that has an invention idea do NOT go with invention scam firms like Davison. www ... My story; I had an idea. Spoke with a guy named Leo Simbeck at Davison. Seemed like a nice guy. But I wasn't sure I wanted to go with this company. He assured me time after time that I would be able to get my refund back if I didn't like the "portfolio". After weeks of talking to the guy I finally decided to spend $680+ on this "portfolio". So after about two weeks I got it and...it was a cheap lamenated cover with a bunch of pages about literally nothing. I was shocked that they would actually charge for this b.s. So I called the very next day to talk to Leo Simbeck and to get my refund that I was promised. But guess what? HE DIDN'T WORK THERE ANYMORE.... So I asked to speak to someone else about the refund. I was told that I would get it just wait a little while for someone to contact me. A month later still no call. So I called them. Got the run around a few times. The about a month later I got a call saying that "we can't give you your refund...at this time". What the hell does that even mean? So I told them that I would sue. Thats when this guy that I was talking to named Ken Mashraky started getting loud and practically yelling saying things like "WELL SUE US THEN WE DON'T CARE" "YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK ANYWAY" and he hung up in my face. Im not going to lie, by this point I was pissed. I called back but of course I got the run around and put on indefinite hold. Everytime I tried to call back I either got put on hold for forever or given the answering machine. Back then I was just out of high school so of course I didn't really have a means of sueing. Fast forward to a few years later and now I do. So today I called them one last time before I take legal action to see if I can get my money back. And guess who I was transered to? Ken Mashraky. So I tell him that I want the refund I was promised a while back and he pretty much turns into the snakiest person I've ever heard. He tells me "well do you have it in writing that we even would give you a refund? because thats not what we do here". I told him "I have to check all the paper work again but I believe I do". Then he said something like "well I can't give you your refund. We gave you a service that you've paid for" . My response "service? how is lieing to me about a refund and giving me a "portfolio" thats just generic papers talking about nothing in a lamenated folder with an artist rendering of my invention thats completely drawn wrong a service for me?" Then I asked him if Leo Simbeck and everyone else I spoke to at Davison was lieing about me getting my refund. His response "yes..I mean I don't know! How do I know you're not lieing?" Then I just ended that conversation this morning by saying "wow you guys are really slimey and a bunch of scam artist. And you will be hearing from my lawyer shortly". Then of course he had to follow up with some more of his bullshit. But trust me this isn't over. It might be only $680+ that I was scammed out of but its the principal of the whole thing and the way they conduct business that pisses me off. I can't just let that go so I will be following up. Have any of you ever been scammed? If so tell us your story. Even if you weren't scammed but almost were by anyone of these scam companies like Davison. Oh and im pretty sure that some of the people at Davison is probably going to see this and try to have it deleted. But if any of you people at Davison delete this to stop if from showing up on Google, im just going to repost it. Fucking scum. Edit: I meant to ask "Were you ever scammed". /Typo

Just a few ideas on handling a situation like this: Immediately write them a letter, documenting your understanding of the agreement, including the notes of any subsequent phone calls (when, who, what) and demanding the refund they promised. Note that they will be responsible for collection fees including court costs and reasonable attorney fees. Send them two copies: once with certified mail, return receipt requested (which they may reject) and once ordinary (first class) mail. Send copies to everyone at their company that you have ever spoken with. Send a copy to the president of the company, which you can obtain from its corporate listing with the PA Secretary of State. Immediately contact your state's attorney general's office of consumer protection. Contact the Pennsylvania AG's office for the same reason. They may have other reports on this company and can help you in various ways. You can also sue for fraud, breach of contract, unfair and deceptive business practices, and so forth. Contact a local law school (or one in Pennsylvania) to see if they have a program whereby a student will handle your case, under lawyer supervision, for little or no fee, provided you agree to pay the court costs. File a complaint with the FBI for federal mail fraud and wire fraud. File a complaint with your local police for the same thing, in addition to whatever consumer protection laws your state may have. Call the local television station and offer to give an interview about how you were scammed by an invention company. Have them call the Corporate Communications Office (on the company website) and ask for comment on the story they're putting together about fraud and unprofessional conduct of Davison.
