Which is better to take out? A personal loan or an auto loan?

I want to buy my sister's car. The problem is the car is in someone else name and its not fully paid for. The car is not even worth the money that is owed on it. So what I was thinking about doing was taking out a loan to buy the car from bank and release the person whose name it is in from the car all together. What kind of loan would be better to take out? Auto? or Personal? And my credit score is in the 600's
