How dangerous is signing your signature on the back of a card vs. writing "Check ID" ?

There's no danger. You lose the card, you report the card, the card's no good any more, and the most you could lose is $50. In fact, it's against card issuer rules for a merchant to accept a card that hasn't been signed, not even with "See ID". The card is not valid until the customer's signature is on it (is says so on the back), and the merchant could be on the hook if the customer disputed the transaction.

well if you card i lost some one know what your sign look like if they want to forge it. I wrote check id on my and never has anyone asked for my id in over three years. I say six of one have dozed of the other
