Visa credit card
does that include credit cards ie amrican express, visa , i want to retrieve them for last 5 yrs?
Question
I would like to transfer my credit card balance on a Visa and a Mastercard to a new CC, how do I do this?
Basically on each card i owe roughly $1,000.00 with interest (12%-16%). My accountant at work said I can certainly transfer those balances to a new CC(Visa or Master) and find one with 0% interest,....my question is, who do I call to do this and how easy is it to do this....? Any tips or advice will help. I can also add that I opened both of my current CCs at my bank... Thanks.

You can find current credit card interest rates at www.bankrate.com. Most 0% interest rates are introductory only for the first 6 months to a year and then go up to normal rates. Sometimes, when you apply online they ask you in the application if you want to transfer any balances so you could do it this way. If that's not the case, once you get the card, you can call the 800 number on the back of the card and they'll help you transfer the balances. Just have the credit card numbers and last bills when you call. They may also include balance transfer checks in the envelope when they send you you new card. Just remember though that there is a fee to transfer balances and they don't tell you when that 0% rate is about to expire so you'll need to keep track of it or they could raise your rate up to a ridiculous level and you won't know until you get the bill. Something else you can do instead of opening another credit card account, is call your existing credit card companies and ask them to lower your rate. Using Bank Rate.com find a few companies offering lower rates so you can use that as ammunition if you need to. You can tell your card company that such and such is offering a lower rate, can you match that?

To get 0% transfer rate, you must have perfect credit. If you do not have perfect credit, you will not qualify. In addition, you will be charged 3% to do the balance transfer. With the amounts you are talking about, you should try to just pay off the balances.

I seriously doubt you will find a new credit card with rates lower than you already have, and forget getting a zero% rate card -they don;t exist anymore - banks are raising their rates and cutting credit limits to protect themselves you would have to find another credit card that gives you a credit limit big enough to transfer both balances over and with a rate less than 12% - very unlikely to happen
