Which is worse, paying rent late or payday loans?

I stupidly decided to decrease my tax deductions to 0 because I was given a raise and a bonus at my job. My supervisor didn't put them through in enough time and now my check was MUCH smaller than I was prepared for. I'm $100 short on my rent and have nothing for food or utilities. It will cost me $60 to take out $200 in payday loans to cover everything or I can pay rent late and take a $75 fee and have to come up with an excuse to tell my management company. I've got no one to borrow from and I can't find anything to sell on Craigslist because most of my stuff is years old and purchased used as it is. How bad does one late rent payment look? Would that go to my rental history if it doesn't reach 30 days? I get paid again 4 days after rent is due and will have the money then..

Why don't you talk to your landlord and see if you can pay the landlord a $20 late payment fee instead?

When you say you get paid 4 day's after rent is due do you mean the first of the month for due date? If so then talk to your landlord. Most rental companies allow 4-5 day's after the first to receive payment without considering the payment to be late. Secondly if you explain what you did to your landlord they may give you a free late payment (assuming you've had a good payment history). I've never seen any's getting hurt by making 1 rent payment 4 day's late before. I would look for that option over the payday loan. Talk with your landlord if they are jerks then go for the payday loan but try to avoid those like the plague.

No don't get a pay day loan.It's a trap.If anything pay you're rent a few days late,A payday loan doesn't want to give you 200 bucks they want to give you at least 500.and they want you to pay them back in one lump sum.

Depending on the state, the landlord may not be allowed to charge a late fee unless the rent is more than 30 days late (MA). As a landlord, I understand that sh*t happens. I am always willing to work with my tenants when they call me as soon as they have a problem. I am considerably less inclined if I have to chase them down. And forget about lying, you blow any trust they had in you. Call the landlord immediately and explain what happened. You might be surprised that we're not mean ogres, but real live human beings.
