Question
I own a home on 2.5 acres that's accessed by a lane owned by a man who owns the few houses around me and the?
farmground behind me. I don't want neighbors to pop up if he sells his farmground (and he's going to put it on the market in the next year or two). While I know I certainly can't stop him from selling, does the fact that the lane would have to be widened and ultimately cut into my property lines give me any rights to stop the zoning from changing from agricultural to residential? Selfish on my part yes, just wondering and he would he have to pay me for loss of land if he was allowed to widen the lane? Devin: he is legally required to allow me to access my home. Landlord: Thank you! will I receive compensation for loss of land?

No, there will simply be an easement on your land, just like he has one on his and you are using his land without compensating him. You will be in the same position he is in, not allowed to deny someone else access to their property. The city is going to want those taxes, there is no way they will not allow zoning so that you do not have to have an easement.
